As the Showrunner, Executive Producer & co-Director of three specials and two series, Lythgoe developed the original format for Disney's cable network, Freeform, later transforming it for the new streaming platform, Disney+.

Simon oversaw all the creative during production, from the casting, story, talent, legal, budget, and post-production to the final network delivery. This big-budget worldwide production was produced with twelve internal Disney corporations in multiple Disney parks, cruise ships, resorts, and destinations like London, Paris, Athens, Hawaii, and the Bahamas.

Simon directed hidden camera proposals, wrote scripts, trained and produced hosts, oversaw home stories, and directed and staged the multi-camera musical performances with talent like Grammy award-winning Pentatonix, Jason Derulo, Brandy Chastain, Martina McBride, Pedro Capo, The Three Tenors, Olivia Newton-John, etc.

Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings was the network's highest-rated premiere in over six years. It also had an additional two million streaming downloads on the day of release on Freeform. The success on the cable network allowed Disney+ to produce its premier series when the streamer launched in 2019.
